In keeping with tradition, we are planning our pre-season opening "Smoker" on Wednesday 23 September 2015 (Thursday 24 September 2015 is a public holiday). This is an opportunity for members to catch up on news and to welcome new members to the club. Fires will be lit, music played.....

Fundraiser Golf Day - Friday 18 September 2015 from 12PM:

A pre-season fundraiser is to be held on Friday 18 September 2015 at Wagners (Mashie Golf Course off Fairtrees) and which has been arranged by Gary Wallace. Please see attached for booking and details. All members are asked to try joining and where possible offer to sponsor prizes. We are hoping to raise much needed funds to assist in paying for the new practice nets.

Pre-season training:

General fitness and pre-season training is kicking off at the club on Tuesday 11 August 2015 starting 5:30 pm. Everyone is welcome and for enquiries please contact Steven Dembitzer (076 706 4400) or Fred Visagie (082 3315478). Despite a number of our existing First XI players still being abroad in the UK, a high performance squad is already in training under the supervision of Manny Senger, who has been re-appointed as our First Squad coach.

Appointment of Captains:

We are pleased to announce the appointment of our Senior Men team captains, as follows:

1st Team: Wallace Albertyn

2nd Team: Morne Heyneke

3rd Team: Jaco De Jager

4th Team: Steven Dembitzer

5th Team: Arno Schipper

6th Team: Rupert Muller

Our Captains are burdened with many duties, both on and off the field, and which is vital to ensure that our teams and matches are conducted in a co-ordinated manner and which is aimed to make us as a Club proud. We request that all members give their full and unconditional support to the appointed Captains in executing their duties, and we wish them all the very best for the season ahead.

Handover from Hockey Club/Clubhouse Improvements/Fields:

This will take place after the weekend of 5/6 September, and we look forward to getting the fields and Clubhouse ready for our use prior to season commencement. The Hockey Club has made some welcome improvements, and the exterior of the Clubhouse is being re-painted and neated up (thank-you Paintmasters and Mike Brown for organising this!). The Sightscreens are also being re-painted and we are pleased that COCT has re-appointed Braam Mong (Landsolutions) again as our Groundsman

Friendly & League Matches:

Weather permitting, the league matcjhes are scheduled to commence in the first week of October, and we will arrange friendly matches prior to this if possible. We are yet to receive the fixtures from WPCA, and this will be circulated as soon as possible.

We are again looking to have 8 teams participating on Wednesday evenings in and A and B division under the lights. This will kick-off in mid-October with matches held on a fortnightly basis for the relevant teams. Should you have any enquiries, please inbox Mike Brown on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

The Durbanville Barbarian team will again be included as a team and provide an opportunity for matches for Seniors who may on occasion miss out on selection to a weekend team.

Juniors Section  - COACHES WANTED:

Our Junior section (with over 200 members) is going from strength to strength, and the registration process will also commence shortly. The Juniors is for youths from ages U5 through to U13, and we provide Friday evening coaching and matches on Saturday mornings. 15 of our Members were selected to WP u13 and U11 representative teams recently, which is indicative of the success of our Junior section. 5 teams will be touring to Worcester and Mosselbay in the coming Sept/October holidays, which is a fantastic opportunity for our youths for additional game time and to set the tone for the season ahead. Members who can assist in coaching on Friday evenings (5:15 for 5:30 till 7PM) must please inbox Arno Schipper at or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Our success and health generally as a Club lies in the success of our Junior section and structures in the final analysis - and the role of Senior players to assist where necessary is of vital importance.

Clothing Sales:

We have made arrangements to place clothing order and which include a new range of match playing shirts, and these will be available for sale towards end September before season commences. Steven Dembitzer will be co-ordinating the Senior Men sand Ladies clothing sales before and after practices, and on match days where possible.

Please pass on this communication to any friends who may want to join and who may not be included on our database.

We shall update you on further news in future.
