DURBANVILLE CRICKET CLUB

October 2008

Rules of the Durbanville Cricket Club Junior Section

It is the wish of the Durbanville Cricket Club’s – Junior Section to present to all Parents and Junior playing members this document to explain and provide our rules and strategic plan for the way forward @ the Durbanville CC – Junior Section.

7 POINT STRATEGIC PLAN

MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION

The Durbanville CC endeavors to create an environment where all Junior members will be given the opportunity to participate in cricket activities at the club.  This includes opportunities within the team environment on match days.  For these opportunities to be met, the club will strive to enter 2 teams in each age group in the WPCA – Junior Saturday league.  Selections for matches will be based upon regular attendance and participation at Practices, as well as expertise and ability, and will be at the sole discretion of the coaches.

COMMUNICATION

Communication we believe is vital to the success of our club, therefore we pledge to communicate as often as possible to our players and parents, opportunities are also there for direct communication channels to the Chairperson if required.  Sound communication with other clubs will also create a clear understanding by all concerning all cricket activities.

COMMITMENT / DISCIPLINE / DRESS

Junior Members are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the Durbanville CC as well as the ethos and spirit of Cricket in general. The Club also commits itself to ensure all players are disciplined at all times, that practices and matches are attended timeously.  Practice Sessions are from 17H15 – 19H00. (17H15 roll call and 18H45 team selections and admin) All members will dress in the correct Durbanville CC – Junior clothing – see Dress Codes.

RECOGNITION

Recognition will be given to those members who turn in good performances. These can vary from individual performances, co-operation, discipline and general attitude towards the Durbanville CC, coaches or fellow teammates.

FUN

It is the wish of the Durbanville CC – Junior section that all young players and their parents have an enjoyable experience at the club.  At this level where many boys are only now learning the game of cricket, focus should be on the fun side of Club cricket.  Family days, Father/Son Night matches will be organized from time to time so as to enhance the fun at the club.

SKILLS

This is a crucial part of any young sportsman’s journey towards many years of playing sport.  It is our sincerest desire to enrich all the young players at the club with the correct skills in order for them to enjoy the game to it’s fullest.  Various age groups will cover various skill levels that we as a club see fit for the players to master in order for them to develop correctly within their age groups.

FRIENDSHIP

In order for us as a club to be successful, we need to ensure that all our members are happy.  Through good friendships that are built up at the club, happiness will automatically prevail.  Having a happy child and a happy parent will inevitably mean a happy club.
