RE: SEASON WELCOMING LETTER – 2024/25 SEASON

Dear DCC members, parents, and cricket enthusiasts,

I hope this letter finds you in excellent health and high spirits. As the Chairperson of Durbanville Cricket Club, it gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to yet another exciting cricket season. If we look back at the success of last season, the bar has been set high, but I have confidence in DCC members to step up and make this season even a more fruitful one.

Durbanville Cricket Club is not just a team; we are a family bound by a common love for the game and we bring communities together. Whether you are a player, a supporter, a parent, or a sponsor, you are an integral part of this extended cricketing family, and we cherish your presence.

We take immense pride in being the premier cricket club in the Western Cape, with a record amount of cricket played on our grounds. However, achieving this level of greatness requires the continuous support and partnership of organizations that share our passion for the sport and our ambition for excellence.

We are thrilled to have Decofurn as one of our esteemed partners. Their unwavering commitment and support have played an integral role in our continued success. Decofurn understands the importance of investing in local sports and community development, and we are grateful for their renewed support for the upcoming season.

As we embark on this new season, I want to emphasize the importance of professionalism and dedication in all aspects of our club. It is crucial that we conduct ourselves with the utmost integrity and respect towards our opponents, teammates, and supporters. Our success as a team not only rests on our skills and performance but also on our ability to maintain a positive and sportsmanlike attitude at all times.

I encourage all players to participate actively in team practices, meetings, and events, as it is through collective efforts that we can achieve our goals. I also encourage open communication amongst the team members, coaches, and management, as this will help us identify areas of improvement and work towards them efficiently.

Exciting news for the 2024/25 season.

As we step onto the field, we do so not just as players but as ambassadors of the sport, carrying the legacy of our club forward. Let us play hard but always with sportsmanship and respect for our opponents. Let us forge new friendships and strengthen the bonds that make our club special.

IMPORTANT NOTICES:

* Change of bank account details: We have moved our bank account to FNB, please find our bank details below:

Durbanville Cricket Club

FNB current account

63070115481

*Registration process: The last couple of years we attempted to digitize the registration and payment process, with some success and improvement. However, until such time as we are confident about a solution that is easy manageable, cost effective and risk free, we will revert back to GOOGLE FORMS for registration purposes. The registration documents will be distributed on the various WA groups, along with the payment instruction. If you have any queries in this regard, please contact Lizelle Siebert, Johan Bower or Corné Nortjé for assistance.

Further correspondence in this regard will be sent to all the groups within a couple of days.

* Membership fees for the 2024/25 season:

* Bar prices: Due to an increase in taxes on alcohol, we have found it necessary to adjust our bar prices by 7.5%. We understand the challenges this may pose, but as responsible business owners, we need to stay in line with industry standards and economic realities. These adjustments are essential for the continued operation and sustainability of our establishment. Prices will be adjusted at the start of the cricket season.

* Kitchen: We are pleased to announce that Melicious (Mel du Toit) will be continuing as our head chef for another year. We are confident that her culinary skills will provide our members and guests with a delightful and diverse dining experience.

* Practice: Junior practice starts Friday, 13 September, 17:15 till 18.45.

DCC executive committee is diligently working towards improving the financial sustainability of the club as a whole. We understand that tough decisions may need to be made, and we appreciate your understanding and continued support throughout this process.

Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to all our sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who have continued to show their unwavering support for Durbanville Cricket Club. Your contributions are instrumental in our endeavors, and we are grateful for your continued belief in our vision.

I wish everyone a successful and memorable season ahead. Let us strive for excellence both on and off the field, and together, let us make Durbanville Cricket Club a beacon of sporting excellence and community engagement.

Welcome, everyone, to an exciting season of cricket! Let us make it ANOTHER memorable one.

Yours in cricket,

Morné de Beer

Dear All Cricket Fanatics and Parents

The good news is that at this moment in time we are allowed to practice and play friendly matches! It is going to be so good to hear the sounds of happy children and cheering mums and dads again. And how we join our loved ones in their disappointment and shed a supportive tear too when things have not quite gone their way! Below is what to expect at DCC this coming term.

Parent involvement in assisting with coaching, management within the guidelines of our policies and objectives is vital and of crucial importance for our continued development and growth as a Club. Parents wishing to become involved in any way (eg. umpires, scorers, coaching) are welcome to e-mail me in this regard. It certainly is an enriching experience working with our youth.
